Nancy Beatrice Cuckler nee Voorhies (Nancy B to many of her friends) died June 23, 2024, at Pine Hills Assisted Living in Hot Springs SD. She broke her hip June 14, 2024, and never really recovered from the surgery.

Nancy was born December 10, 1925, to William and Effie Voorhies in Cheneyville, LA.   She married Russell Edison Cuckler (Mick) February 1945. They moved and lived in many cities and countries due to his time in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force.  They moved back to Hot Springs permanently in 1963.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Russell Edison Cuckler, (d 2005) and daughters Judith Loraine (d 2024 ) and Arlene Bernice (d 2015 ). She is succeeded by her son Russell E., Grandson Michael A. (Helen) and two great grandchildren Adella and Aaron.

Those who knew Nancy will remember her as an outgoing, effervescent extrovert who loved to make new friends. I called her 'gregarious to the max!'. This is very evident in her wide range of groups and clubs she belonged to including Beta Sigma Pi, Eastern Star, Republican Women, Red Hat Society, United Church, Minnekahta Quilt Club, to name a few. She even took up Bridge late in life for the sociability aspect and making even more new friends.

She loved quilting, reading, crochet, knitting and visiting with friends.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2024, at The United Churches in Hot Springs, SD.

Committal services will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.
