Nancy Joan Kistler, age 74, of Custer, SD passed away on March 6, 2016, at the Custer Regional Hospital in Custer.
Nancy was born on September 10, 1941, in Pierre, SD to Herbert and Gladys (Schlegel) Mason. She graduated from Kennebec High School, Kennebec, SD, in 1959. On November 21, 1959, in Kennebec, SD, Nancy married Donald Kistler. She was a housewife, waitressed at various restaurants in Custer and Hill City, SD, but mostly recently worked at the Buglin Bull in Custer. Nancy was a member of the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, embroidery and needlework. Nancy will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister; seamstress, fabulous cook, and always welcoming all who crossed her doorstep.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Kistler of Custer; children, Frank (Michelle) Kistler of Lake Andes, SD; Mary Anne (Jim) Krogh of Sioux Falls, SD; Shirley (Ken) Climenti of Hermosa, SD; Margi (Joe) Conlon of Cody, WY; Donale (Larry) Walker of Custer; brother, Charles (Karen) Mason of MN; sisters, Mary (Ernie) Kouba of OH; Carol (Ron) Lancaster of AZ; Cheryl Mason of SD; 29 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Bill Wakeland, BJ Johnson, Ron Bradeen, Jared Tennyson, Dave Wagner, and John Culberson. Honorary Pallbearers: all grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and Jumbo.
Wake services will be held 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 449 Harney Street, in Custer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Kerry Prendiville as celebrant. Committal services will be held at the 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
A memorial has been established in Nancy's name to benefit the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
