Obituary

Norman Dale Kezar, age 80, of Edgemont, SD, passed away August 11, 2010, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Norman was born in Belvidere, SD, to Norbert G. and Mary Blanche (Pike) Kezar, on January 24, 1930, the second of three children. He went to school in Belvidere and graduated from Belvidere High School in 1948.

Norman joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served until his honorable discharge in 1955. On April 17, 1954, he married Iola Drabek and the couple raised seven children. Norman was a carpenter in the community, until he went to work for the U.S. Postal service where he was employed as a rural mail carrier at Belvidere, and later Rapid City, Jackson County until his retirement in 1985, when he moved to the Edgemont community, were he resided until his death. Norman loved to tell stories and used this talent as a tour guide at the Wild Horse Sanctuary.

Norman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belvidere and VFW post in Belvidere. Norman had a full life filled with many friends and family. He especially delighted in his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides being a good cribbage player and gardener he was an avid reader and loved to cook.


Survivors include seven children, Mike &Vicki Kezar of Devine, TX; Steve & Teri Kezar of Torrington, WY; Terry & Deb Kezar of Arthur, NE; Dave & Ruth Kezar of Toppenish, WA; Todd Kezar of Colfax, WA; Linda Johnson of Douglas, WY; Mark & Heidi Kezar of Bartlett, TN; eighteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and very special friend, Frances Goins.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with Pastor Morris Nelson officiating.
