Ovid S. 'Bozo' McCoy, 92, of Newcastle, WY, passed away February 26, 2010, at the Weston County Manor Nursing Home in Newcastle.

He was born December 2, 1917, at Middlebourne, West Virginia to Ira and Alma (McIntyre) McCoy.

Bozo was educated in Oklahoma. He spent three years in the United State Army where he earned three bronze stars, including the Bronze Arrowhead Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.


He married Bernadine "Deno" Bolin in Newcastle on November 26, 1950. They made their home and raised their daughters in Newcastle. Bozo worked in the area oil fields and retired from USGS. After his retirement, he volunteered at the Weston County Senior Center driving the senior bus, and helping with maintenance and odd jobs.


He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He especially loved the Wyoming sunshine. He loved spending time with his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newcastle.


He is survived by two daughters, Polly Japp (Ken) of Littleton, CO and Denise McCoy (Tom) of Albuquerque, NM; Two grandchildren, Kim Smir (Bassam) and Kent Japp (Jennifer) of Dallas, TX and three great grandchildren, Lauren Smir, Alec Smir and Jason Japp.


Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Newcastle, WY.


Pallbearers are Ken Japp, Tom Kennedy, Bob Williams, Paul Piana, Doran Newlin and Dean Johnson.

A memorial has been established at the Weston County Manor, Newcastle.
