Patrick William O’Brien, 76, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away April 14, 2026, at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD. Patrick was born March 24, 1950, in Sisseton, SD, to Richard and Helen (Barnhart) O’Brien.

Patrick was a proud Vietnam veteran, joining the U.S. Navy in 1969 and honorably discharged in 1973. Patrick served aboard the Destroyer John S. McCain and the AE4 Mount Baker. Patrick was skilled and well known for his love of growing roses. He was a member of the American Rose Society and even had a rose named after him.

Patrick married the love of his life, Aileen Tengson, in 2009.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Aileen; his stepson, Aaron Tengson; sister, Colleen O’Brien. He is predeceased by his parents and sisters, Kathryn; Marjorie and Renee.

Catholic Funeral Vigil will be held 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at St. Athony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs, SD.

Catholic Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Catholic Funeral Committal will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
