Paul Francis Schmitz, 83, of Custer, SD, passed away February 8, 2024, at his home in Custer.

Paul was born December 28, 1940, in Kenmare, ND, to Leo and Evelyn (Ackerman) Schmitz.  Paul married MaryAnn Weiker October 22, 1965 in Custer.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge.  Paul purchased Leo's Auto in Custer in 1979 and operated his business until his death.

Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years, MaryAnn; children, Paula (Tim Clark) Schmitz; Tonja Barker; Troy (Jacqueline Young) Schmitz; brothers, Curt Schmitz; Dale (Pat) Schmitz; Darold (Joyce) Schmitz; grandkids, Colton Merritt; Alicia Swartz; Jordan Barker; Janae Barker; Brooklyn Schmitz; Lucain Schmitz and a host of friends.

Predeceasing Paul are his parents, a sister and a brother.

A Celebration of Paul's life will be held 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the VFW in Custer, SD.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer, SD.
