Paulene Francis Shook, age 67, passed away August 19, 2008 at her home in Buffalo Gap, SD.

Paulene was born June 23, 1941 in Hot Springs, SD to Paul and Irene (Fugier) Miller. She married Ron Shook. She was employed at the Veterans Administration in Hot Springs for twenty five years. Paulene was a homemaker and care giver. She was a hard worker. She enjoyed many activities, including sewing, crafting, gardening, photography and cake baking. She took great care of her family, home, pets and her friends. Paulene was a very generous, creative, caring, busy loving woman. Any positive word you could think of described Paulene.

Paulene is survived by husband, Ron of Buffalo Gap; three daughters, Melody (Jerry) Vliem of Lodgepole, SD; Teresa Alder of Gillette, WY; Geraldene (Steve) Dyer of Douglas, WY; step-sons, Joe (Cheryl) Shook of Hot Springs, SD; Jason (Marrisa) Shook of Edgemont, SD; Step-daughter, Darcy (Ron) Batt of Alliance, NE; Brother Joe (Jan) Miller of Spearfish, SD; sister, Ruth Miller of Morehead, MN eight grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.

Paulene was preceded in death by one great grandson.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2008 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2008 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.

A memorial has been established in Paulene's name to benefit the Buffalo Gap Community Center.
