Pauline Marie Walgren, age 81, of Hot Springs, SD passed away December, 12, 2008 at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs.
Pauline was born February 12, 1927 in Rushville, NE to Julius and Lena (Sandoz) Eckerle. She graduated from Rushville, NE High School in 1944. On August 16, 1947 she married Fredrick M. Walgren in Washington DC where they were both employed by the FBI Fingerprinting Department. She followed Fred to Kansas City, Riverton, WY and Scottsbluff, NE before moving to Hot Springs, SD in 1958 where she raised her four children and assisted in the construction and operation of the KOBH radio station. Later, she owned and operated Mode-O-Day women's apparel store in downtown Hot Springs. She spent 34 years raising her children and all of their friends called her "Mom". She found pleasure in dancing, cards, fishing and sewing, and was active with golf and bowling leagues.
Pauline is survived by her husband, Fredrick Walgren; son, Sheldon 'Butch' Walgren, his wife, Cindy and children Shea and Sonny of Burlington, KS; daughters, Debra Johnston and granddaughter Brianna of Hot Springs; Paula Stackhouse, her husband, Scott and children Gabriel and Elle of Cedar Falls, IA; grandson, Aaron Walgren and his wife Estelle Conroy; sister, Marion Hoos of Rushville, NE; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister; and her son, Craig.
Rosary services will be held 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Thomas Tierney officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.
