IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy Ann
Gregg
January 27, 1945 – April 13, 2022
Peggy Ann (Whitman) Gregg, 77, of Edgemont, S.D., Passed away April 13, 2022, at her home in Edgemont.
Peggy was born January 27, 1945, in Hawthorne, California to Charles and Cora (Robison) Whitman while her father was being transported into the South Pacific theater of World War II. Only a few days old, she was taken by her mother and grandmother by train to their home in Newcastle, Wyoming where she resided until after high school graduation. She then went to Casper College in Casper Wyo. She also went to college in Utah. She then moved back to Wyoming and started her family with first husband Al Dee Konopnicki. She was divorced and moved to Colorado. She lived there for 30 years. She met and married Frank Gregg and blended a family. Then retired in Edgemont.
Peggy had a passion for life, she never passed up an adventure; she would go anywhere any time. She traveled to all 48 continental states and found a love for them all! She excitedly followed Frank across many states as he entertained and as she did so she made so many lifelong friends everywhere she went. Friends to this day.
She loved art in many forms, she drew, wrote poetry, she could sew, she taught drama and encouraged her family to see art everywhere. Evident in the beautiful art in her home.
Her love of life included her family. She spent an evening with her granddaughters teaching them how to howl at the moon, expressing to Makayla's friend that in order to be a part of our family one must be able to howl! She often called her granddaughter and told her to look at the moon, proving that they were not that far apart if they could see the same moon. Aly and Gram would often make wishes on stars only one night they realized the star was indeed an airplane. Peggy once drove 12 hours to be there in time to pick up her granddaughter after school. This was Peggy in love with her grandchildren.
Growing up there was never NOT enough room at the table, in the tent, in the bedroom, living room etc. for company. All of her children's friends called her "Mom". We had holidays with our family which included whomever needed a place to go. No one was ever to be left out, not with Peggy around. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She just had that personality that was so loving and kind, warm and welcoming.
She was the first in her family to go to college and encouraged her daughter to be the first with a college degree. Her love to read has been passed down to her granddaughters who have read their way through several vacations.
Her beautiful spirit would light up a room! She could talk politics, sports, and dirty jokes with the best of them. She could ride a horse, drive a bus, ride a motorcycle and shoot a gun, but had to be dragged screaming to get her ears pierced.
She loved her many pets to the extreme, doing tricks with them and taking them with her as she toured the states.
When she drove the school bus she touched many lives as she drove for the special needs children with the very special love she held.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Frank Gregg; son, Michael A. Konopnicki; daughter, Melissa Goss (Jeff); daughter, Kelly M Gregg-Tatro (Bob); son, Aaron R Gregg (Amanda); granddaughter, AnnAlyssa (Aly) M Konopnicki (Matt Estrada); grandson, Charles M.
