Phyllis Jeane Tapley Chlecq, 85, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away May 9, 2013, at the Rapid City Hospital Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.

Phyllis was born in 1927 and lived with her parents Leona and Clarence Dout and younger sister Doris on a Ranch in Sioux County Nebraska. She graduated from Harrison Nebraska High School and taught in a country school for one year. She married Joe Tapley and they had a son, DeRay Dout. She attended Beauty School in Scottsbluff, NE, and opened the Powder Puff Beauty shop in Harrison NE, 1949-1950. Phyllis was married to John Chlecq in 1950 and moved to his ranch near Rumford, SD. They had one daughter Linda Chlecq-Lysaght. She started and operated the Rumford Beauty Shop 1950-1957, when she started working at Black Hills Army Depot at Igloo, SD, until it closed in 1967. Her great love was hard work and watching their baby calves in the spring. Her other passion was planting many trees on her ranch and was very proud when she received an award for conservation.

Phyllis is survived by her son, DeRay Dout , his daughter, Heidi Adams (Christian) and their 3 beautiful daughters; daughter, Linda Chlecq (Larry Lysaght) and their son, John Lysaght (Theresa) and their baby son and daughter; as well as granddaughter, Meghan Lysaght, who loved to stay with Grandma on the Rumford Ranch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, Joe Tapley, and husband John Chlecq.

Phyllis loved her Church Family and the many friends she made over a long a productive life.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2013, at the Southern Hills Evangelical Free Church in Hot Springs with Pastor Mark Crossman officiating. Interment will be held later at the Harrison Cemetery in Harrison, NE.
