Polliann was born January 20, 1933, in Shenandoah, IA, to A.C. 'Nuck' and Lola C. (Cain) Nuckolls. She grew up in Westboro, MO, until her family moved to Glenwood, IA, where she called home. She attended Glenwood High and played basketball, with her father as her coach. She graduated with her class in 1950. These were years she dearly loved.

In 1971, Polli moved to Omaha, NE, where she became a resident manager for a major building company. She loved this job and remained there until in 1990, when she retired for health reasons. She also met her lifetime companion, John James. In 1991, Polli and John moved to Hot Springs, to be close to family. She took up writing poetry and won many Golden Poet awards. Her greatest passion was being with her family.

Polli is preceded in death by her parents, and her loving companion, John James.
