Ralph Richard Doll was born November 20, 1930, in the rural Limestone area of Custer, SD. to Paul and Emma (Alger) Doll.
He grew up in the Limestone area and attended rural schools. Ralph was baptized, confirmed and helped build the original building of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer. He remained a lifelong member of that church.
He joined the U.S. Marine Corp and served in the Korean conflict and twice in Viet Nam. He transferred to the U.S. Air Force, and was a career man attaining the rank of M/SGT before he retired.
Ralph died in Tokyo, Japan on October 30, 2016, at the age of 85.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Toyo and a sister, Mary Linde.
He is survived by his wife, Kazue, of Japan; a daughter, Megumi, of Seattle, WA; sisters, Helen (Paul) Weyrich of Newcastle, WY, Bertha Johnson of Revillo, SD, Shirley Davidson of Custer, SD; brothers, Paul (Shirley) of Cheyenne, WY, and David of Custer, SD.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the Custer Cemetery in Custer, SD, with Rev. Robert Gardner officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the United States Marine Corp. A luncheon will follow at Our Redeemer Lutheran Fellowship Hall.
