Ralph Edwin "Rock" Roeck, Jr., age 73, of Custer, SD, passed away November 24, 2014, at the Custer Hospital.
Rock was born February 23, 1941 in Chicago, IL, to Ralph Edwin and Amelia (Poredisch) Roeck. He graduated from high school in 1959, and moved to Canada in 1968, where he was a hunting and fishing guide in and around the area of Ear Falls, Ontario. Rock was certified in mechanics and auto body repair and operated a wrecking and towing business for 15 years. He then moved to Hayward, WI, where he had small restaurant, and a horse breeding operation. In 2001, Rock found his heaven on earth- Custer and the Black Hills and determined never to leave. In 2005, he married the love of his life, Diane Olson. In 2005, he also began the struggle of his life in a Christian walk. And here ends the life of Rock on this earth during which he entered the lives of others at will and without reservation.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer.
Rock is survived by his wife, Diane Olson of Custer; son, Ross Roeck of Ear Falls, Ontario; daughter, Samantha Anderson and 5 grandchildren of Wilmer, MN; sister, Nancy Van Eynde of Lake in the Hills, MN; stepson, Richard Jonathan Roeck of Thunder Bay, Ontario; 1 granddaughter; and one aunt, Sylvia Poredisch of Montgomery, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother, Roger.
