Raymond Peter 'Bud' Hartman, resident of Oelrichs, South Dakota, passed away October 22nd, 2010, at Fort Scott Manor in Fort Scott, Kansas. He was 89 years old. Bud was born November 6th, 1920, in Defiance, IA, to Johann W. and Kate (Hulsebus) Hartmann.
Bud made his living as a wheat farmer and cattle rancher on his farm located north of Oelrichs, SD. His passion for farming and for the Kingdom of God influenced every part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, W. Glen, Harry, Louis, Edward, Alfred, Clarence, and George; a sister, Gladys; and a granddaughter, Keeta Owens.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, residing in Fort Scott, KS; three daughters, Mary Sandra Owens and husband, Ron, Chugiak, AK; Bonnie Shuttlesworth and husband, Bob, Oelrichs; Twila Ash and husband, Ken, Fort Scott; foster-daughter, Lucy Salway, Maricopa, AZ; eight grandchildren (twenty-one great-grandchildren), Mark Owens and wife Sherri (Courtney, Garrett), Melisa Gates and husband Shawn (Brandon, Devon, Jason), David Owens and wife Dana (Dreanna, Danielle, Darci), LaWana Gates and husband Monte (Kiana, Kailey, Kiya, Kenzie), Robb Shuttlesworth, Robonna Kelley and husband Scott (Mikayla, Cade, Hope, Tessa), Angela Chance and husband Brent (Alec, Nate, Kole), Shane Ash and wife Ashley (Samuel, Addison); and four foster-grandchildren, Larry Dean, Lisa, Rosita, Lauriene.
Rev. Shane Ash will conduct funeral services at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 29, 2010, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD. Burial will follow in the Smithwick Cemetery, Smithwick, South Dakota.
