Dr. Raymond Milton "Ray" Luebeck, 75, of Hot springs, SD, passed away at his home, while surrounded by his family, on Sunday, May 10, 2015. He had a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Ray was born July 8, 1939, in Ashley, ND, to the Rev. W. J. and Gretchen (Koch) Luebeck. He was the youngest of seven siblings. Ray graduated from West Tech High school, Cleveland, OH, and attended Sioux Falls College, Sioux Falls, SD, and Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. He went on to earn his Ph.D. at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and professional training at the Psychopathic Hospital at Iowa City, the Wood Veterans Administration Hospital, and Milwaukee Psychiatric Hospital in Milwaukee. After a long and varied career, he retired as clinical psychologist from the Hot Springs Veterans Administration Black Hills Health Care system in 2007.
Ray and Martha Jane Cleveland were married December 26, 1958, in Sioux Falls, and had their son, Jon Marc, and daughter, Laurie Ann.
Ray and Marie were married in Cody, WY, on April 16, 1988, and had a son Matthew Oliver. A well-respected, quiet and gentle man, Ray brought the best out in people. His exceptional humor and generous spirit were cherished by his family and friends. He enjoyed music, reading, and his family. His hobbies included snow skiing, hunting and fishing, and he held a private pilot's license.
Ray is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marie Lubeck of Hot Springs; children, Jon Marc(Debbie)Luebeck of Stayton, OR; Laurie Ann (Kevin)Frey of Blaine, MN; Matthew Oliver (Melanie) Luebeck of Littleton, CO; step children, Scott(Cindy) Norris of Lovell, WY; Dave (Chris) Norris of Powell, WY; Lori Bennett of Greybull, WY; brother, Gerald(Shirley Sue) Luebeck of Ashely, ND; sisters, Ruth Jenner of Jamestown, ND; Dorothy Clem of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Brendan Luebeck of Stayton, OR; Jordan Luebeck of Stayton, OR; Kiera (Corey) Ball of Sioux Falls, SD; Aubri Frey of Sioux Falls, SD; and Gavin Luebeck of Littleton, CO; and by numerous step grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Magdalene McCabe; Marianne Musil; and brother, Rev. Herbert Luebeck.
A visitation will be held at Chamberlain-McColley's Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
Funeral services will be held at Chamberlain-McColley's Funeral Home on 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2015, with Pastor Mark Crossman officiating.
