Raymond Weldon 'Ray' Wickham, age 64, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at his home in Custer, SD.
Ray was born January 10, 1949, in Wagner, SD, to Ward and Ethel (Simmons) Wickham, long time residents of Custer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969. Ray was care-giver for his father, Ward, until he passed away in 2002 and his mother, Ethel, making sure she made it to family gatherings, bingo and casino's (LOL).
Survivors include his daughter, AmyRenee Wickham; mother, Ethel, who will be 91 in July, of Rapid City, SD; sister, Irene (Gary) Wenzel of Pagosa Springs, CO; brother, Chandler 'Chan' Wickham of CA; numerous nieces and nephews as well as friends and extended family who will miss his laughing and generous nature.
He was preceded in death by his father as well as brothers, Douglas Allan (2000) and Delbert (2010).
Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the Custer Cemetery in Custer, SD. Military Honors will be provided by the Kenneth Kuper VFW Post #3442, where he was a life member of the 117th AHCVA, the D.A.V., and the Fraternal Order of Eagle's.
Memorial donations may be made to the Custer VFW Post 3442 in Ray's memory.
