Reta P. Bristol, 89, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away October 5, 2021, at Seven Sisters Living Center in Hot Springs, SD.

Reta was born May 18, 1932, to Donald and Josephine Byers in Walthill, NE. She was the second born and had three brothers, Donald; Stan and Dick.

Reta moved to Hot Springs, SD, with her husband, Leland Bristol, in 1998.  She was very active in the community in Red Hats, Christmas in The Hills, CHAD, Miss South Dakota and PEO to name a few.

Reta is preceded in death by her husband, Leland Bristol; brother, Donald Byers; brother, Stan Byers and son, Grant Schuman.

She is survived by her sons, Mitchell (Kathleen) Schuman; Dirk Schuman; Todd Schuman; brother, Dick (Cathy) Byers; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2021, at United Churches in Hot Springs, SD.

Committal services are pending for Monday, October 18, 2021, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
