Obituary
Reta L. (Roundy) Micheel, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2013 in Valentine, NE.
She was born July 4, 1922, to Nellie and Cecil Roundy and grew up around the Valentine area. She married Lloyd Micheel on December 4, 1941, in Idaho Falls, ID. To this union three children were born-Bernard Lloyd, Bonnie Mae (Schemm) and Jack Floyd.
Reta was a beloved mother, grand-mother, sister, and friend. The family were ranchers in Mullen, NE, and then moved to Seneca where Lloyd and Reta ran a cafe. She was a good cook and held many jobs cooking for others over the years. Reta's hobbies included sewing, gardening and playing cards. She was a member of the Hot Springs Senior Center and card clubs as well as The United Churches.
Reta is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Schemm (Edgar) of Fort Collins, CO; son, Jack Micheel (Jan) of Seneca, NE; grandchildren, Sherri Pena (Jay); Ronda Katzenmeyer (Kirk); Dina Overholt (David); Michael Schemm; Kerry Warren (Bill); Kelly Painter (Brian); Stan Micheel (Mandy); Stacey Micheel (Char); Tessa Fischer (Tom); Wendy Bell (Clint); several step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Nicholas Pena; Jacki Johnson (Reed); Brad Davidson; Ridge Overholt; Krissy; Jake and Cody Warren; Heidi O'Dea (Dewey); Riley LaRee; Brady, Gus and Bryce Painter; Cassey, Alley and Slate Micheel; Dillon, Trista, Dakota and TeeCee Micheel; Lyssa Fischer; Concho and Tanner Bell; several step-great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, Zoey and Pistol O'Dea; Raiden and Leni Johnson; two brothers, Robert Roundy (Mary Ann) of Valentine, NE; Frances Roundy (Jan) of Clarksville, TN; two sisters, Nancy Riegway (Eldon) of Pineville, OR; Ruth Bunny of Watkins, CO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Reta was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Cecil Roundy; husband, Lloyd; son, Bernard; three infant grand-daughters as well as several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2013, at The United Churches in Hot Springs, with Pastor Clint Walker officiating, followed by a luncheon.
Committal services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
