Obituary

Rhonda K., 48, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Rhonda was born to Arvid O. and Helen K. (Young) Iverson on July 15,1971, in Hot Springs, South Dakota.

Rhonda was a newspaper carrier for the Rapid City Journal at the young age of 7 with her Grandmother Louise Engebretson. She graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1990 and then attended Western Dakota Vo-tech for Auto Body repair. Rhonda helped dispatch and drive cab for the family owned cab company, Vet's Taxi. Additionally, she worked at Art Advantage/Eagle Mats for many years until the company relocated. Following this, she worked as a truck driver for MCT for 10 years and received a number of recognitions during this period. Following that, she worked for the City of Hot Springs Golf Course. After the tragic loss of her mother in December, 2018, she took over her mother's newspaper distribution of the Rapid City Journal as a bundle hauler for a very brief time until becoming ill with cancer.

Rhonda loved taking care of their horses and animals. You could always find her with one of her four legged family members, or nursing an injured or ill kitten back to health.

She was the boy her dad never had. So he taught her everything he knew about mechanical repairs on engines, both cars and motorcycles. Rhonda enjoyed her cars and motorcycles, spending many hours fixing and riding them.

Rhonda is survived by her Father, Arvid Iverson of Hot Springs; Sisters, Paula (John) Laughlin of Hot Springs and Patti (Dean) Zylstra of Rapid City, SD; aunts, uncles, numerous nieces and nephews.

Rhonda is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Kay Iverson; Great Grandparents, Max and Augusta Hoeppner; Grandmother, Louise Engebretson; Grandparents, Christ and Helga Iverson; and Nephew, Joseph Reyes.

She will be buried with her Great Grandparents Max and Augusta Hoeppner at Evergreen Cemetery.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, 1938 Canton Avenue in Hot Springs, SD. A light lunch will be served following the service.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
