Richard Wallace Ball, 93, of Edgemont, SD, passed away on October 13, 2018, at the Seven Sisters Nursing Home in Hot Springs.

Richard was born on May 13, 1925, to Warrer and Gladys (Swanger) Ball on their homestead east of Edgemont. He attended country school before going to high school in Edgemont, graduating in 1943. Richard served in the United States Army during the WW2 War.

In Aug of 1949, he married Bessie Mae Asher in Edgemont, where they made their home on Rocky Ford Road east of Edgemont. Born to this union was a son, Richard, and daughter, Jennifer. Richard worked many jobs from the sale barn to TVA mining before he retiring in 1988, to work on the ranch. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He always enjoyed family gatherings and visiting with friends and neighbors.

Richard is survived by his son, Richard (LeeAnn) Ball of Hot Springs; grandsons, James Ball of Edgemont; Robert (Kelsey) Ball of Rapid City, SD; great grandson, Clayton Ball of Edgemont; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Richard is preceded in death by wife, Bessie; parents; 2 sisters; a brother; daughter, Jennifer and son-in-law, John.

Visitation services will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2018, at the United Church in Edgemont. Committal services will follow at the Edgemont Cemetery.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
