Obituary

Richard J. 'Dick' Hunter, age 85, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away December 17, 2010, at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Dick was born on the family homestead in Ziebach County, SD, on August 9, 1925. His parents were Fred and Ruth Hunter.

Dick attended grade school at a one-room country school in Ziebach County, SD, and attended high school in Eagle Butte, SD. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Kansas, and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of South Dakota. He was a World War II veteran.

Dick is survived by his wife, Margaret of Hot Springs; sons, Donald (Brenda) Hunter; Spencer (Carla) Hunter of Farmington MN; Jason (Eva) Hunter of Vail, CO; daughter, Wendy (Mike) Conboy of Farmington, MN; and sister, Jean Varcoe of Rapid City. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jonathan, Allison, and Sarah Hunter of Farmington; Michael and Steven Conboy of Bellingham, WA; and Whitney Hunter of Rochester, MN; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in Death by his parents, two brothers, William and Jack; and one sister, Shirley.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the United Churches in Hot Springs with Pastor Morris Nelson officiating. Interment will be held at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD, at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Dick's name to benefit the Missions Fund of The United Churches in Hot Springs.
