Richard 'Rick' Lee Phelps, 63, of Keystone, SD, passed away unexpectedly May 29, 2023, at his home in Keystone.

Rich was born December 14, 1959, in Deals Indre, France, on an Air Force Base to Leo and Kay Phelps.  The family moved frequently between Air Force Bases during his childhood.

After marrying his wife, Joni, they settled in the Black Hills to raise their family.  In the 80's and 90's he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Keystone and Hayward.

Rick was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He took pride in his craftsmanship as a drywall finisher for 48 years and he was lucky to have worked with so many great people.  He was an outdoor enthusiast.

Rick was called home way too soon and will be missed by friends, family and customers alike.

Rick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joni; sons, Joshua (Tiffany) Phelps; Daniel Phelps and grandchildren, Keaton; Kolton; Izabellla and Olivia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Phelps of Louisville, KY; mother, Kay Phelps of Rapid City, SD and brother, Jeff Phelps of Rapid City.
