Richard Ray Rames, age 75, of Custer, SD, passed away November 13, 2013, at Custer Regional Hospital in Custer.
Richard was born August 15, 1938, in Alexandria, SD, to Louis and Elsie (Sopoci) Rames. In his youth he enjoyed sports and participated in basketball, football, track and baseball. He served in the U.S. Air Force from May 1956 until August 1957. He loved hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, gold panning and anything outdoors. He had a great sense of humor. He worked for the cities of Nisland, Rapid City and Hill City. He served as a Deputy for Nisland and Hill City. Richard was a humanitarian, he loved to help people and tried to do the right thing for everyone.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Shawna) Rames, II of Rapid City, SD; daughter, Charlotte Hildebrand of Rapid City; mother, Elsie Calabrese of Custer; brother, Lyle Rames of Tacoma, WA; and one grandchild, Ashlynn Kinney.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the VFW in Custer.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2013, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD, with Pastor Morris Nelson officiating.
