Robert 'Bob' Taylor Shull, age 71, passed away October 9, 2011, at his home in Hot Springs, SD.
Bob was born July 12, 1940, in Custer, SD, to Ray and Lois (Sanders) Shull. He attended school at the Custer School. In 1960 he married Marlene Modde and to this union a daughter, Lorna, and son, Jerry, were born. He then married Sunshine Grimes at a later date.
Bob spent most of his life in the Black Hills area working on ranches or in the lumber industry in which he operated a skidder. The great love of his life was horses, starting with his first horse he called Sweet-Heart. Bob was the happiest breaking horses, going to horse sales and camping out on trail rides with friends. He was very good with machinery as well as overhauling engines and putting them back into operation. Bob loved people and was always ready for a good time and a card game. He was also an avid reader, especially books about the old west as well as a very good "cowboy cook", throwing together a breakfast over a campfire that was outstanding and topped it off with his "cowboy coffee". Bob will be remembered for his western attire; hat, boots and a half smile ready to blossom into a big grin and friendly greeting as well as his Merle Haggard tape playing in his pickup with his dog in the back.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Lorna of Hot Springs; son, Jerry (Chris) Shull of Spearfish, SD; step-daughter, Misty Davis of Spokane, WA; grandson, Dalton; granddaughter, Kaysha; step-grandson, Taylor Davis; sister, Jean Wells of LA; as well as numerous nieces; nephews; friends and countless memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, 'Cork' and Joe Shull; and step-granddaughter, Kristina Davis.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October, 15, 2011, at the Custer VFW Post in Custer, SD.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at all of the Black Hills Federal Credit Union locations.
