Robert Duane Myers, (85) passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2023.  He was born August 5, 1937, to Ila and Obed (Toby) Myers in Rapid City, South Dakota.

He was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran who was honorably discharged in 1972.  During a tour in Germany, he met his future wife, Elfriede Offermann, and started a family.  After the service he became a career over the road truck driver and retired at the age of 82.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping.  He looked forward to spending time doing these things with his family as often as he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Elfi, of 62 years and his children David Myers of Oregon, Karen & Darryle Lackey of Hot Springs, Sandy and Scott Jewell of Florida and Steve Myers of Hot Springs, 9 grandchildren living in South Dakota, Oregon, Idaho, Arkansas, Colorado and Peru, South America, and 6 great grandchildren.

Committal services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2023, at Black Hills National Cemetery with full military honors presented.
