Robert Dee "Bob" Hott, age 81, of Custer, SD, passed away on April 14, 2015, at the Fall River Rural Health Clinic in Hot Springs, SD.
Bob was born on July 9, 1933, in Decatur, IN, the second of three sons born to Lee and Geraldine (Bugh) Hott. He attended school in Fort Wayne, IN, Tucson, AZ, and Dupree, SD, where he graduated in 1951. After graduation, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy. His military service included the Korean War Theater of Operations. In 1955, after his military service, he attended the University of Arizona and received a BS/BA in 1959. In 1960, Bob married Leatrice J. "Lea" Benefield, from Tucson, AZ. Lea died in 1987. Bob's career was as a real estate appraiser. He worked in CA, CO, AZ, NM, and SD. He retired in July 1995, from the Black Hills National Forest and remained in Custer, SD, with his second wife, Patricia L. (Walker) Hott. Bob and Patty were married in 2000. Bob was a life member of the VFW Post 3442.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gerald and William; and daughter, Patty Sue.
Bob is survived by his wife, Patty; daughter, Dianna L. Lee of Eureka, CA; nephew, Michael L. Hott of Victorville, CA; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Chamberlain-McColley's Funeral Home in Custer on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, between 6-9 p.m. Bob will be buried at the Black Hills National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the benefactor of the donor's choice.
