Robert Leroy Kercherval, age76, of St. Louis, MO, and formally of Edgemont, SD, transitioned into eternity on Monday, October 6, 2014, at the DePaul, Hospital in St. Louis, MO, after a long struggle with multiple ailments.

Robert was the middle of three children born on April 29, 1938, to the late Beatrice (Cotton) and Roland S. Kercherval, Sr., in Custer County, SD. He was born and raised on a ranch near Dewey, SD. Robert attended the Dewey and Edgemont Public Schools.

Robert was employed by the Burlington Railroad, Track Maintenance Section, between Dewey and Moorcroft, WY. Due to health reasons, he left employment with the railroad and moved to Kansas City, MO, with his then wife, Ruthie Kercherval. Robert was a lover of Country and Western music and was an excellent drummer sharing his talent with a small band playing country and western music at dances in rural areas close by. Robert acknowledged Jesus Christ and was baptized and received into the fellowship of Mount Sinai Baptist Church, in Kansas City, MO, on January 28, 1979. While a member of Mount Sinai, he served as a member of the choir.

He is survived by a loving sister, Mary L. Kercherval Short of Cincinnati, OH; a faithful brother, Roland C. Kercherval, of Compton, CA; to further cherish his memory, are numerous nieces and nephews: Veronica Standard, Michelle Standard, Walter Howard, Brent George, Christopher Wilson, M'Tima Franklin, Coquise Antiunett Kercherval, Cory Kercherval; many cousins, great nephews and nieces, relatives and friends.

Robert is preceded in death by his nephew, Roland Kercherval, Jr.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs. Interment will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Edgemont Cemetery.
