IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert B
Weisser
May 29, 1935 – April 10, 2025
Robert "Bob" Bruce Weisser was born on May 29,1935 to Martin and Dorothy Weisser. Bob joined the lord on April 10, 2025. Bob was born and grew up in Hot Springs and never left his beloved home town. In his youth he enjoyed working cows, working on ranches, and participating in his favorite sport of rodeo. The only time Bob left his hometown of Hot Springs was to attended college in Springfield, SD for body and fender.
In 1958 Bob met Janice Coates while hanging out with friends. After graduating from college Bob signed himself up with the PRCA Badlands Circuit and showed off his skills in steer wrestling. At the Wall rodeo he faced a dilemma after winning at the steer wrestling. He had enough to buy a new car and horse trailer, and continue to move up in the ranks of the rodeo circuit. Bob's other option was to purchase a wedding ring and put a down payment on a house in Hot Springs. We can all guess the choice Bob made with his winnings! Bob and Janice were married on September 2, 1960 at the Methodist Church in Edgemont. During the first 15 years or so of their life together they would go to Burdock almost every weekend. Bob may have called Hot Springs home for his whole life but always said that Janice was always homesick and he had to take her to visit her family frequently. Janice said she did finally get past that after a while but the memories they made with family during those visits were priceless. Bob and Janice welcomed two rowdy boys, Dean and Gene, into their lives. Life would never be the same at the Weisser home ever again. Bob loved to take his boys camping, fishing, and hunting; all the thing's boys should do with their Dad. Bob and Janice always seemed to find adventure in whatever they were doing together, whether it was a quick vacation, to working cattle, building the ranch they loved, and watching all the rodeos on TV.
Bob was a journeyman plumber at the VA in Hot Springs for over 30 years. Bob was very proud of the work they did at the VA during his time there. Bob and Janice retired and moved to the ranch just north of Hot Springs. In his retirement he lived his dream of ranching, loved having his cattle and horses and taking care of the land. Bob also had a knack for fixing just about anything, he could make a 50-year-old lawn mower run like new. Bob was never one to sit idle, if you knew Bob you knew, he was on the go and most likely creating trouble by doing things he should not be doing. One of Bob's bright spots in his life aside from his family was being a volunteer firefighter with the Hot Springs Fire Department for 60 years. Up to the time of his death he maintained a personal unit at the ranch, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Bob lived a wonderful life every day of his 89-years. Bob would have celebrated his 90TH birthday in May. Bob and Janice would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in September.
Bob was proceeded in death by his father Martin, mother Dorothy, brothers Don and Leo, sister Maxine, and son Dean.
Bob is survived by his wife Janice, Son Gene (Rogine), granddaughters Charlene and Haleigh (Bryan), grandsons Reed (Nicole) and Brandon, sister Mary Lou (Bob); Sister-in-laws Lois (Dallas) and Margaret as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He has 10 great-grandchildren.
Bob never once slowed down and took every chance to take life by the horns and held on for a great ride! Everyone who knew him knew that he did whatever he wanted and not a single soul could tell him what to do. Bob was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
