Obituary

Roger L. Wright, 66, of Custer, South Dakota passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 15, 2012. Roger was born July 6, 1945 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He was employed for thirty years by IBM and raised his two children, Scott and Jonna. Sadly, Jonna preceded her father in death with her passing in 1988.

Later in life, Roger married his wife, Peggy Williams, and loved her four grown children as if they were his own. After his retirement from IBM, he worked at the Super 8 in Custer for several years, and pursued his hobbies and interests. Most importantly he looked forward to spending time with his friends and family. Roger enjoyed cooking and was more of a chef than a cook. He was known for his canned salsa, which he made each fall with his good friend Jerry. He did not just ride motorcycles for fun, but valued traveling across the country with his friends and wife as well as participating in his Gold Wings motorcycle club. Roger also spent his time volunteering for the Hospice of the Hills.

Roger was a father who continually put the interests of his children, his wife, and his friends above his own. He was a grandfather who was loving, generous, and energetic.

Roger will be dearly missed by his five children and their spouses including Scott Wright, son, and wife Taresa Wright of Parrish, FL, Wendy Leifheit, daughter, and husband Benny Leifheit of Westminster, CO, Michael Williams, son, and wife Nancy Williams of Rapid City, SD, Pollyanna Bianconi, daughter, and Kenny Burbach of Longmont, CO, James Williams, son, and Lexi Gonsales of St. Petersburg, FL, Phyllis Wright, sister, of Nebraska City, NE, Shirley Wilson, sister, of Mesa, AZ and his nine grandchildren Madeline Wright, Jessica Leifheit, Nicholas Leifheit, Samuel Leifheit, Kristina Leifheit, David Williams and wife Hillary Williams, CJ Bianconi, Cara Bianconi, and Anthony Wareham.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Hills, 244 Elk St., Rapid City, SD 57701.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2012, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer with Pastor Bill Savery officiating.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer. Written condolences may be made at www.mccolleyschapels.com.
