Obituary
Roy Joseph 'Joe' Lodes Jr., age 70, of Custer, SD, passed away on August 29, 2014, at the Rapid City Regional Hospice Care Center in Rapid City, SD.
He was born on October 3, 1943, to former Velma E. Bosshart of Truman, MN, and Roy J. Lodes Sr. of Madelia, MN. Roy later moved with his mother and brother to Sioux Falls in 1949, graduating Washington High in 1961. He enlisted USAFR in 1965, with an honorable medical discharge in 1968. Joe worked various construction jobs, Harley-Davidson Family business from 1962-1973, and also worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad until 1981, when his injury's and ill health forced retirement. Mr. Lodes was very proud of 30+ years in a program started by Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob.
Joe is survived by his son, Paul Joseph John Lodes of Mankato, MN; daughters, Amber Nicole Lodes of Mankato, MN; Jodi Lynne (Jon) Eck of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Gene (Lorae) Lodes of Renner, SD; 2 grandchildren, twins, Nolan Thomas Eck and Tenley Christine Eck; niece, Ashley Lodes; nephew, Chris Lodes; and his best friend Rod Waddington of Custer, SD.
A celebration of Joe's life was held Sunday, August 31, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Way Park in Custer, SD.
