Roy Nielson, 64, of Edgemont, SD, formerly of Willmar, MN, passed away April 24, 2024, in Edgemont, SD.

Roy was born November 18, 1959, in Hector, MN, to Byron and Marlene (Slate) Nielson and graduated from Atwater High School in 1978.  He was married to Michelle for 45 years.  He drove truck over a million miles.

Roy always had a big smile for everyone.  He will be remembered for being loving and caring and he was willing to help anyone in need.  He would give fish away to kids that weren't catching any and would host neighborhood fish fries.  He loved the Lord and spread the gospel.  His spare time was spent fishing, hunting, motorcycling, rock hunting in SD, adventuring on his four wheeler with his dog, Pepper, and singing.  He loved singing on stage with Jimmy Van Zant.

Roy is survived by his wife, Michelle Nielson; brother, Byron (Terri) Nielson; sister, Tracy (Mike) Reusset; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

A Celebration of Roy's life will be held 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., June 8, 2024, at the Atwater Community Center, 107 2nd St N in Atwater, MN.
