Russell Dean, 80, of Custer, South Dakota, passed away on September 18, 2023. He was born on June 19, 1943, in Custer, South Dakota.

Russell was a loving son, preceded in death by his mother, Madge Burleson, and his father, John Dean, his brother Walter Dean, and sister Mariel Biggs. Russell met Adelene Oien in 1969, they were married 1 month later, they had 4 beautiful girls, who went on to have 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, of which Russell loved and cherished. Russell also had many beloved nieces and nephews and was a great mentor to Walter's sons, John, Don, and Michael Dean. Adelene and Russell were best friends of 54 years.

Russell was a man of many talents, logging, mining, over the road trucking, along with so many other jobs. In his free time, Russell enjoyed pursuing his hobbies. He had a passion for antique cars and would spend hours tinkering with them, ensuring they were in pristine condition. Russell also had a love for horses and would often be seen riding and caring for them. He also loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. His dogs, Buddy (1, and 2), and Cats, Lulu and Jack were a constant source of joy and companionship, and he gave them lots  of love and attention.

Russell's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.

There will be a graveside service, 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Pringle Cemetery.  There will be a gathering of friends and family to follow at the Pringle Community Hall, in Pringle, South Dakota. There will be burgers and hotdogs provided, please bring your favorite side dish, and fond memories to share.
