Ruth Joan Borszich (Fairbanks) passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, in Spearfish, SD. She was 90 years old. A private ceremony will be held this summer.

Ruth was born January 29, 1935, in Onawa, IA to Dr. Warren and Lucille Fairbanks (Haines). She was raised in Vermillion, SD where she graduated High School and USD with a teaching degree. Ruth taught in Mission SD where she met her husband, Harlan Borszich. They were married on May 1, 1959. Their family expanded with three girls and two boys.

They moved to Custer, SD in 1974 where she taught at the elementary school. Harlan passed away in 2001. Ruth moved to Gillette, WY and volunteered at the elementary school close to her home.

Ruth's favorite things to do were visiting with her grand kids and playing bridge.

Ruth is survived by her children, Maureen (Robert) Wobig of Canova, SD; Mark (Michelle) Borszich of Hickory, NC; Monica (Lous) Mayer of Isabel, SD; Michalene (Eric) Seeman of Gillette, WY; Matt (Leah) Borszich of Thorton, CO; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Tom Fairbanks;  one sister, Marge Malone; three sister in laws and 2 brother in laws.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harlan, her parents, parents in law, two brothers, Don and Bruce Fairbanks, two sisters in law  and five brothers in law.
