Dahl, Ruth Ann, (Fitzner), age 77, formerly of Hot Springs, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023. She is a graduate of Custer High School in 1963 and then went to Black Hills State College. Ruth had a love for animals and enjoyed raising them. She would love a Sunday ride on horseback with her family and friends. Ruth also had a passion for fishing and would spend hours on riverbank catching dinner. Stories from family is that while her dad was working hard in the fields one day, Ruth cut up the dinner steak to go catch catfish. Ruth had a huge passion for her three chihuahuas. If you saw Ruth on the weekends in her convertible mustang, those three little angels would be her co-pilots.

Ruth retired from the VA in Hot Springs, SD in April 2022. She loved her job in the file room and the employees that she worked with every day. Ruth had worked in the VA system for 24 years.

Ruth passed away at home with her family and friends by her side. She had a reoccurring battle with cancer.

Preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Jeanette Fitzner and her sister, Shirley Slaughter. She is survived by her Son Wendell Hertel (Carolyn) of Hot Springs, her daughter Kristine Bogner (Greg) of Hot Springs, Sisters Linda Fitzner (Ken) of Chicago IL, Joan Huelsen (Harold) of Howard City, MI, 5 grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life will be forthcoming this summer at the Oral Fairview Cemetery.
