Obituary

Ruth E. Feller, age 89, of Hot Springs, SD, passed peacefully at home from this life to her eternal home with Jesus on March 14, 2014.

Ruth was born on February 14, 1925, at Chadron, NE.  She lived a very colorful life while farming, ranching, riding horses, raising crops/cattle and she was a talented story teller when sharing her memories of the "old west".  She loved the Black Hills, the Sand Hills of Nebraska, nature, horses, roping, riding, her dog Gizzie, coffee, and Biscuits and gravy.  Ruth was an attentive listener, and an avid reader of western books.  Always a 'straight shooter', if you didn't want Ruth's opinion then don't ask.

Grateful to have shared her life are her sisters, Ramona Watts of Ontario, OR; Renia Sclaph of Grand Junction, CO; special friends, Eldon and Marilyn Umiker (Sundance the buggy horse) of Hot Springs; Emma Shaw of Hot Springs; sister-in-law, Winnie Cottrell of Casper, WY; many nieces and nephews all her wonderful neighbors at The Evans as well as her beloved pet and friend, Gizmo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Lottie Cottrell; her husband, Carl; three sisters, Rita Cottrell (infant); Ruby Fry of Lake Havasu, AZ; Rose Hovorka of Vale, OR; and one brother, Ray Cottrell of Casper, WY.  Ruth leaves behind a riveting legacy of a life well spent and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery near Payette, ID, and interment next to her beloved husband, Carl Feller.

A memorial has been established in Ruth's name and you can contact Marilyn Umiker at 605-745-5089 for details.
