Sherri P. Pershall, age 44, of Buffalo Gap, SD, passed away on August 23, 2015, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.
Sherri was born on October 4, 1970, to Donald and Yvonne (Moerike) Umberger, in Gregory, SD.
Sherri's smile and laugh brought joy to those around her. The brilliance of her spirit is greatly missed by all.
Growing up on a farm, she enjoyed riding horses, going up the hill to her grandparents' house, and playing the flute. She also possessed an artistic gift of drawing and spent many childhood afternoons walking through the Burke Lake trails. Once, as a little girl, Sherri was overjoyed to have caught something on the fishing line with her dad. Realizing it was a snapping turtle, they quickly put it back into the lake.
She took care of her brother and sister when they were little, taking up the responsibilities of a big sister and fulfilling the task fervently.
She attended Burke High School and later the University of South Dakota.
An in-home daycare provider, she loved each child who entered her home. But her own children were the great loves of her life and her most enduring success story. Her eyes bright with love and adoration, Sherri would beam with pride at her children's growing list of achievements.
A loving wife and mother, a precious daughter, and a forever-missed sister, she will be in our hearts infinitely until we meet again, joyfully, on the other side.
Sherri is survived by her husband, Dave Pershall of Buffalo Gap; two sons, Deren Pershall of Buffalo Gap; Roland Beliveau Hill Air Force Base, UT; two daughters, Asia Alsgaard of Albuquerque, NM; Autumn Beliveau of Spearfish, SD; parents, Donald and Yvonne Umberger of Belle Fourche, SD; one brother, Doug (Mackenzie) Umberger of Spearfish, SD; and one sister, Brenda (Alvin) Malpaya of Richmond, VA.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2015, at Chamberlain-McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs with Fr. Ed Vanorny officiating. Interment will follow at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery in Buffalo Gap.
A memorial has been established in Sherri's name and may be sent to the family.
