Shirley Ann Muhm Boman, 79, formerly of Edgemont, SD, born February 23, 1945, in igloo South Dakota, passed away August 30, 2024, at Seven Sisters Living Center in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Shirley was one of 12 children of Frederick Wayne Muhm and Mae Lillian Beeson Muhm.

She graduated high school in 1963 and entered the U.S. Army where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Edward Boman at Fort Lee, Virginia on February 26, 1965. They were both released from the service in March 1965 and they moved to Benzonia, Michigan for six months, then moved to Igloo, South Dakota where Charles worked for the government until March 1966. They were transferred to Virginia at Fort Lee, where they lived in Virginia for 18 years then they were transferred to Illinois where they lived for eight years until Charles retired in 1988.

Shirley worked as an LPN for 10 years and five years as a voucher examiner for the finance and accounting office in Fort Sheridan, Illinois. They then moved to Edgemont South Dakota where they spent the rest of their lives. Shirley had a love for gardening, flowers and painting. She was very artistic and had wonderful paintings she has done. She loved spending time with family, friends and her animals.  Shirley always had a beautiful smile and the warmest hug.  She will be terribly missed, but never forgotten.

Shirley is predeceased by her mom and dad and all of her brothers and sisters.

Shirley is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2024, at Edgemont Baptist Church in Edgemont, SD.

Committal services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 9, 2024, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD with military honors presented.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
