Shirley June Brown, age 87, of Igloo, SD passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family in Custer, SD, on November 22, 2018.

She was born on June 11, 1931, in Shell Lake, WI to George and Freida Norton. Shirley held a degree in nursing from the University of Minnesota at Duluth and was certified in massage therapy. She worked as a massage therapist for over 30 years.  She was active on the board of the Provo Township for over 10 years.  Shirley was a strong and determined woman.  She held strong convictions about her faith and read the bible daily and was progressive in promoting spiritual ventures.

Shirley will be remembered as a loving mother to her four children, and generous and selfless friend.  Her interests included cooking, baking, rock-collecting, sewing, and gardening.

Shirley is survived by three daughters Ann (Tom) Reams, Joan Henderson, Carol (Bob) Adams; one son Arlo (Deborah) Kasuske; 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Arlo Kasuske Sr.; her second husband, Curtis Brown; one sister, Helena Clark; 4 brothers, Ernest Norton, George Norton, Emil Norton and Raymond Norton.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Community Center, 1200 Range View Circle, Rapid City, SD, with Norman Cox officiating. Interment will be with her first husband at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be with her family and friends Saturday, December 15, 2018, at noon in her home, 10917 Harney Rd., Edgemont, SD. Please bring a dish to share and come remember her with us.
