Shirley Anne Simmons Baker, age 81, of Bowmont, Idaho, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, December 10, 2020 at her residence.

Shirley was born on March 2, 1939 in Hot Springs, South Dakota, the daughter of John Erwin and Lenora (Lena) Caylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Albert Simmons II; her son Johnny Norman Simmons; and husband, James Cass Baker. Shirley was an avid quilter and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She especially treasured her role as "Grammy" and loved watching her family grow. If you ever spent 5 or 10 minutes with her I'm sure she knew your entire life story. She was the kind of person that people just told things to and she listened and cared.

Shirley is survived by three children, Chuck (Sandy) Simmons of Dacono, Colorado, Janna (Nathan) Gray of Bowmont, Idaho and Jodi Simmons of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Sarah (Terry) Smith of Nampa, Idaho, Rebekah (Jack Yates) Simmons of Meridian, Idaho, Schyler Gray of Bowmont, Idaho, Jonathan Simmons of Longmont, Colorado and Carley Simmons of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and great granddaughters: Stella, Aubrey and Braxtyn. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Shirley's final wishes were to be cremated and have her ashes, along with part of second husband Jim's ashes, buried next to her first husband Chuck in the Edgemont Cemetery in Edgemont, South Dakota.

A graveside memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2021, at Edgemont Cemetery in Edgemont, SD.
