Tamara Rae Lee (Rogers), age 72, passed away on September 13, 2023, at the Monument Health Rapid City Hospital, in the presense of her loving family.
Tam was born November 24, 1950, in Deadwood, SD, to Bill and Betty Rogers. She grew up in Lead, SD and graduated from Lead High School in 1969. She then went on to study Cosmetology at Karl John's Beauty College, graduating in 1971.
In 1970, Tam met Ronald W. Lee, who was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base. They only knew each other for three days before he was deployed. During his deployment, they wrote letters to each other. They gradually fell deeply in love and got engaged. They married June 6, 1971, in Lead, SD. Over the next decade, she gave birth to two girls, Carmon, in 1972, and Amy, in 1975. They moved to Igloo, SD, in 1976. In 1979, she gave birth one more time, and to her and Ron's surprise, a set of twin boys were born, Ronald Jr. and Benjamin. A few years later, they moved to Edgemont, SD, finding their forever home.
During her life in Edgemont, Tam was a daycare worker, substitute teacher, and bible study teacher. She was very dedicated to her faith and passionately loved teaching others about the word of God. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, reading, preparing bible lessons, and watching Hallmark movies. One of her greatest joys in life, was her grandchildren. She loved being a grandma and great-grandma. She devoted much of her life to raising and caring for them over the years.
Tam is survived by her sister, Nancy Neville of Philip, SD; brother, Louis Rogers (Monica) of Shafter, TX; daughters, Carmon Lee of Edgemont, SD; Amy Lee (Lonnie) of Edgemont, SD; son, Ben Lee (Beth) of Cheyenne, WY; son-in-law, Joseph Koller (Laura) of Edgemont, SD; Grandchildren, Chyla Chandler (Kollin) of Gillette, WY; Levi Koller (Elizabeth) of Gillette, WY; Cody Grauel of Gillette, WY; Zachary Koller (Daisha) of Edgemont, SD; Kori Seegrist (Jennifer) of Gillette, WY; Sydney O'Dell (Wyatt) of Alaska; Vincent Lee of Cheyenne, WY; Isaac Lee of Cheyenne, WY; Great-grandchildren, Karsyn, Chance, and Stetson.
Tam was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Betty Rogers; her husband, Ronald W. Lee Sr.; her twin sister, Trudy Kay Rogers; her son, Ronald W. Lee Jr.; and her grandson, Chance W. Seegrist.
Tamara's celebration of life will be held at the Edgemont Sr. Center on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Please bring a potluck dish and memories to share.
Committal services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
