Ted L. Dryden, 80, of Oelrichs, SD, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital with his family by his side.
Ted was born July 26, 1929, to Ralph and Alta (Milligan) Dryden. He spent most of his life in Fall River County. Ted and his brothers helped his dad on the ranch. He graduated from Oelrichs High School in 1947.
On June 6, 1948, Ted married his high school sweetheart, Leona Morgan, and together they made their home on the same ranch where Ted was born and began to raise their family. Four children, Judy, Ruth, Dick and Gail were born to this union.
Ted farmed, ranched and worked at various jobs over the years and then retired from the State Highway Department in 1992. He spent the last 18 years at home with his wife and just being our "Papa".
Ted enjoyed hunting, bowling, reading, the company of good friends and family, and he loved to hear the giggle of a happy baby.
Honored to have shared his life are Ted's wife of 61 years, Leona; daughter, Ruth (Ken) Pourier, Oelrichs; his son, Richard (Rose) Dryden, Oelrichs; daughter, Gail Eberle, Chadron, NE; nine grandchildren, Kenneth Bowker, Hot Springs; Kevin Bowker, Big Piney, WY; Amy Pourier, Box Elder; Angela Pourier, Box Elder; Jessica Dryden, Chadron, NE; Lisa (Blue) Annis, Smithwick; Allen Dryden, Oelrichs; Jobie Dryden, Oelrichs; and Daniel Eberle, Oelrichs; great-grandchildren, Samantha Bowker, Prescott, AR; Boone Bowker, Big Piney, WY; Kelsey Pourier, Box Elder; Kylee Pourier, Box Elder; Elyjah Dryden, Chadron, NE; and Dylan Pourier, Box Elder; and one great great-granddaughter, Acey Jae Pourier, Box Elder; special family friends, Steve Bowker, Rachelle Christman, Byron Eberle and Mandi May; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy; and grandson Nathaniel Dryden.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the Oelrichs United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ed Coates officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.
A memorial has been established to the Oelrichs Rodeo Association and the Prairie View United Methodist Church Building Fund.
