Terry Linn (Strawhacker) Pangburn, 67, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away November 27, 2024 at her home with Tad and Nikki by her side.
Terry attended grade school at Troy Elementary in Troy, IA and attended middle and high school in Bloomfield, IA. Terry was married to Steve Appenzeller for 32 years and later divorced, she was in a short marriage thereafter to Calvin Pangburn that ended in divorce as well.
Terry spent 30 years working at Chevron-Phillips in Bloomfield, IA. She loved her job and enjoyed going to work every day and then coming home to garden and go on her daily 2 mile walk. After she retired, she worked at the Upper Crust Café in Hot Springs for many years as a server who everyone knew as "Fred".
Terry was the hardest fighting person that most people have ever encountered. She survived 3 cancers before her 4th battle got her. Terry will best be remembered as fun loving and outgoing. She loved her kids and her grandkids and was always willing to be selfless and help others. Terry's gift was her ability to befriend any and everyone. Her empathetic spirit brought comfort to many. You could always find her "on the go", chasing adventures and experiencing all life and family offered her.
Terry is survived by her son, Tad Jay (Nikki) Appenzeller of Hot Springs; son, Joe Lynn (Farra) Snook of Bloomfield, IA; sisters, Deb Frymoyer of Bloomfield, IA; Carla Strawhacker of Burlington, IA; Dixie Garmon of Bloomfield, IA; Candy Taxton of Bloomfield, IA; brother, Doug Strawhacker of Vienna, IL; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Strawhacker; sister, Cindy Strawhacker and her father, Roy Strawhacker.
A celebration of Terry's life will be held 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2024, at The Upper Crust Cafe on River Street in Hot Springs, SD. All are welcome, Terry loved the community and the people in it. Please come and share some refreshments and memories.
Terry's ashes will be spread beside her mother in the private family cemetery near Troy, IA.
Memorials can be mailed or delivered to Tad's address, 701 North 23rd Street in Hot Springs, SD.
