Thelma Lucille March, 94, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away December 2, 2021, in Hot Springs, SD.

Thelma was born at home on a farm near Villisca, Iowa, October 19, 1927, to Leslie and Viva Kernen.  She graduated high school in 1945 at Nodaway, Iowa.  She married Bill March in 1949 and they moved to Hot Springs in 1955 with their son, Chuck.    Thelma retired from the VA Medical Center in 1982.  She and Bill traveled to all 50 states and 13 foreign countries.  They spent 16 winters in McAllen, Texas.

Thelma is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen; grandchildren, Jason (Lynda) March; Tania (Matthew) Sayler; Sarah (Shane) Stroub; step grandchildren, Kerry; Karla; Wade; Wess; 5 great grandchildren, Raemi; Haisley; Lexi; Wyatt and Kiana.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Bill, of 53 years, in 2002; her son Chuck in 2015; her daughter-in-law, Irene March in 1984; her granddaughter, Angelia March; her parents; her sister and her brother.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.  Committal services will follow at Smithwick Cemetery in Smithwick, SD.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Mammoth Site, Hot Springs, SD.
