Trampus S. Haskvitz, age 23, of Buffalo Gap, SD, passed away August 11, 2011, while fighting a wild land fire near Edgemont, SD.

Trampus was born December 28, 1987, in Custer, SD, to Don and LuJean Haskvitz. Trampus was born 6 minutes after his twin brother, John. He has lived in Edgemont; Ely, NV; Hot Springs, SD; Dickinson, ND, and currently residing in Buffalo Gap, SD.


Trampus attended Hot Springs public school K-12 grades. While in school he was involved in football, basketball, school and Legion baseball. After high school Trampus attended Dickinson State University in Dickinson, ND, where he played football for the Blue Hawks and graduated with a degree in Business Administration.


The last five years and at the current time Trampus has worked as a seasonal fire firefighter for South Dakota Wildland Fire Division Suppression.


Trampus was a very kind hearted caring person. Always putting other people first, and taking care of everyone. He was his family's rock.


Trampus is survived by parents Don & LuJean; sister, Betsy, brothers, Ben and John; niece, Ella Lou and grandparents, Bob and Jane Haskvitz of Edgemont; numerous aunts and uncles and cousins.

Trampus was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Tim and Ruth Hamaker.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2011, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at the Mueller Center Auditorium in Hot Springs with Chaplain Morris Nelson officiating.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Trampus' name at the Black Hills Federal Credit Union.
