Violet Irene Campbell, 93, of Hot Springs, SD passed away October 31, 2009, at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs.
Violet was born December 31, 1915, in Memphis, MO, to Lydia Jane Garrett. She was raised by her grandparents, Albert and Sarah Garrett; Uncle, George Garrett as well as her Uncle Leonard and Aunt Tiny Garrett. She attended school at Pleasant Hill and then was married to Clyde Maurice Campbell at Memphis, MO, on August 31, 1932. To this union three daughters were born, Ada Jane; Mabel Ann; and Eleanor Jean. In 1989 Violet moved to Rapid City, SD due to illness. In 2003 she moved to the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs, where she resided until her death.
Violet enjoyed countless hours of fishing with her husband, daughters and grandchildren. She loved to read, cook, garden and make root beer floats for her grandchildren.
Violet is survived by her two daughters, Mable Ann (Gerald) Fees of Rapid City, SD; Eleanor Jean Campbell of Covington, GA; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lydia Garrett; her husband, Clyde Campbell; and one daughter, Ada Jane.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home Auditorium with Pastor Bill Martin officiating.
Interment will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the Memphis Cemetery in Memphis, MO.
