Virginia Ann Hooper, 69, of Custer, SD, passed away April 24, 2018, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Virginia was born June 17, 1948, in Houston, TX, to Otha and Helen Hooper. She lived in South Dakota the majority of her life enjoying the love of her family and friends. Although Virginia had physical and learning disabilities, none of that affected her sharp wit, always beautiful smile and love of life. The challenges she faced never slowed her down. At an early age, she participated in the Special Olympics and won numerous gold medals in swimming and track events.

Virginia is survived by her mother, Helen Flora of Custer; brothers, Buster and wife, Tiffany, Hooper of Ft. Worth, TX; Ron and wife, Tonya, Flora of Custer; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her so.

Virginia is preceded in death by her special friend and special love, Calvin Valendra.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2018, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer with Pastor Marsha Savery officiating.  Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery.

Rest in Peace Virginia. Your pains are no more, you are now in Heaven with Jesus. We will always love and miss you.
