Obituary

Walda "Wallie" Simmons, beloved wife/mother/grandmother/great-grandmother, died resting peacefully in the arms of her beloved spouse, Joseph Simmons, at their residence in Hot Springs, on December 27th, 2015.

Wallie was born on September 24, 1937, in Cook County, Chicago, IL, to Waldo and Cecelia (Deiling) Schnell. She was raised in Chicago and relocated to Denver, CO, before moving to Hot Springs, SD, in 1995.

Wallie was known for her warmth, wit, humor and most importantly by her faith. Throughout her life she wanted to pursue her relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and Blessed Mother, her calling was solidified as a young woman when she became a 3rd order lay Carmelite; her commitment and devotion to her faith strengthened her and all she came in contact with. She was an exceptional, beautiful soul, and will be missed deeply by all. She asks that all would please pray for her...

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Ann Berry; sister, Nancy; and her grandson, Justin.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Simmons; four children, Teresa Dinnen; Shawn Gorman; Jeanne Buria, Christopher Gorman; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 5 nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs with Fr. Kerry Prendiville celebrant.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Cure PSP at PSP.ORG/Donate/
