Wayne McCurdy, 83, of Hill City, SD/Weatherford, TX; passed away December 17, 2024, in Custer, SD.  Wayne was born December 11, 1941, in Cumberland, IA, to George and Alma (Aldag) McCurdy.  He attended country school and graduated from C&M in Cumberland, IA.  Wayne was a machinist at Sunstrand Aviation and Coors in Golden, CO.

Wayne's hobbies included traveling, cooking, canning, gardening, guns and wood working.  He could fix and build just about anything from rebuilding a car engine to putting on a full course meal.  He loved playing cards, sitting on his porch with a cup of Folgers watching the birds and squirrels that he fed daily.

Wayne loved to travel with his wife, Carolyn, in their RV, visiting friends and family and making new friends.  He had a gift of hospitality.  Wayne never met a stranger.  He was funny, witty, smart and charismatic.  You never wondered if you were loved because he always expressed his love and pride for you.  He didn't want for much.  He loved a down home meal and time with his family.

Wayne is predeceased by his wife, Carolyn.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Lorelee (Daniel) Roth; son, Ryan (Katie) McCurdy; daughter, Mara Lawson; daughter, Shelah Vavrina; son, Michael McCurdy; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
