Obituary

Wes Shafer, 92, of Hill City, SD, passed away on May 2, 2019, at Custer Senior Regional Care in Custer, SD.

Wes proudly served in the U.S. Army as a medic through World War II and the Korean War.  He was a longtime resident of Hill City and a special member of the Lions Club and the Little White Church.

Wes is survived by his sons, Rod (Teresa) Shafer of Custer; Rick (Bev) Shafer of Wright, WY; Bill (Tina) Ball of Hill City; daughters, Linda Shafer of Rapid City, SD; Vicki (Jeff) Krohn of Bennington, NE; grandchildren, Shanon (Casey) Ellerton of Custer; Jamye (Elisa) Shafer of Burns, WY; Amy (Ben) Pravecek of Hulett, WY; Mandy (Justin) Holcomb of Gillette, WY; Alisha (Adam) Coy of Hill City; Ashley Smith of Florida; Nate, Ava, Mary Grace and Landon Krohn of Bennington, NE; Josh (Kim) Ball of Custer; Dacia (Brandon) Fischer of Spearfish, SD; and sister, Dody Raga of Custer.  Wes leaves behind a legacy of 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; as well as numerous friends and loved ones.

Wes was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol; and his beloved first wife, Irene; daughter, Linda Jo Ball; brother, Harold; sisters, Verna and Emma; parents, Weslie N and Mabel Shafer.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2019, at the Little White Church in Hill City, SD.

Committal Services will be held immediately following the Memorial Services, at the Hill City Cemetery in Hill City, SD.

A memorial has been established in Wes' name to benefit the Little White Church in Hill City or the Hill City Lions Club.
