William Charles 'Bill' Savery, age 63, passed away May 29, 2012, at his home in Custer, SD.
Bill was born October 4, 1948 in Denver CO, to Stuart and Ruth (Priest) Savery. On April 11, 1969, he married Marsha Amrine, together they raised six children. Bill was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, Pastor, and Chaplain,. He was a professional clown his entire life, and Pastor to the Custer First Baptist Church from 1978 to present. In his loving and understanding manner he was Pastor to the Custer community as a whole, he was a friend to everyone from every walk of life and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Savery of Custer; sons, Truman (Ingrid) Savery of Rapid City, SD; James (Nicole) Savery of Chadron, NE; John (Lyndsey) Savery of Laramie, WY; Joseph (Bethany) Savery of Rapid City; daughters, Tarsha (Scotty) Smith of Bryant, AR; Jennifer (Brett) Backhaus of Rapid City; brothers, Al (Nina) Savery of San Francisco, CA; Robert (Vicki) Savery of Denver, CO and nine grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Custer Middle School Armory in Custer with Pastor Garvon Golden, Pastor Jerry King, Pastor Jim Hamilton and Pastor Larry Parvin officiating. Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery.
The family would like to thank you and invite you to join them for a time of fellowship at a pot luck luncheon at Camp Volunteer, across from the Custer Airport immediately following the committal service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Bill's name to benefit the First Baptist Church or the Crisis Pregnancy Center.
